Time Between Dates Field

Time Between Dates field type provides users with the duration between two selected dates. When selecting these durations, you must specify a start date (first date) and an end date (second date), and your end date must always be after your start date.

Additionally, you will see 3 different calculation strategies in the configuration screen. They are as follows:

  • Only Workdays: Calculates based only on the workdays in your country.

  • Only Holidays: Calculates based only on the holidays in your country.

  • All Days: Calculates based on all days of the week.

If you choose to select the workdays or holidays from the calculation strategies, don't forget to choose the correct country. If your country is not listed in our options, please contact us.

Please remember that you need to have Jira Administrator permissions for the user you are using to configure and create Time Between Dates Fields.


Create Time Between Dates Fields


  1. Go to IssuesCustom fields

  2. Click on the Create custom field button located in the top right corner.

  3. Select All and Time Between Dates field and click Next.

  4. Add a name and add a description if you want, and click Create.

  5. Associate field your field to the appropriate screens, and click Update.


Configure Time Between Dates Fields


  1. Go to IssuesCustom fields

  2. Find your field and click on the three dots located at the far right of your field's row.

  3. Click Context and default value.

  4. Click on the Edit custom field config option located at the bottom of the screen.
