Administration — Access & Site Settings
Advanced Kanban Board has a dedicated site administration page. Find it in Jira under Settings → Apps → Advanced Kanban Board Settings. Everything here is visible only to Jira site admins, and there are two sections: Access control and Gamification organization defaults.
Access control - who can open each page
Access is set per page, so you can grant someone the Board while blocking them from, say, Gamification settings. These pages can be gated independently:
Board, Backlog, Insights, Leaderboard, Gamification settings, and Board settings.
Each page has its own mode:
Everyone (default) - anyone with access to the project can open it.
Restricted - only the groups and users you add can open it. Use the per-page search box to add groups and people as chips.
Press Save page access when done. A few rules always hold:
Site admins always have access to every page, so you can't lock yourself out.
A page set to Restricted with no one added is open to site admins only.
Group membership is matched case-insensitively.
The Get started / Welcome page is always available, so everyone has a landing spot.
A page a person can't open is hidden from their sidebar; if they reach it another way they see a short "You don't have access to this page" notice. The Welcome page tells each person which pages, if any, are restricted for them.
Access here controls who sees the app's pages. The board itself always shows only the issues each person's own Jira permissions already allow.
Gamification - organization defaults
Seed the gamification defaults every new project inherits, and optionally lock fields so project admins can't override them.
Control | Effect |
|---|---|
Gamification on by default | Whether new projects start with gamification enabled. |
Default visibility mode | The privacy posture new projects inherit: Team only (default), Anonymized, or Named. |
Lock on / off | Prevents project admins from changing the enabled state. |
Lock visibility mode | Prevents project admins from changing the visibility mode. |
Save organization defaults | Persists the config; new projects inherit it. |
On save you'll see confirmation - green when saved cleanly, yellow if the server clamped a value to policy (with reasons listed), or red if you're not a site admin.
Privacy floors always apply. Per-user opt-in and the minimum cohort of four are enforced no matter what defaults or mode you choose - they can't be lowered from this page.
