Regex Validator field creates a custom field that allows us to check if the inputs match the configured patterns. If the entered input does not match the pattern, it will not be displayed due to the invalid input.

Note

Please remember that you need to have Jira Administrator permissions for the user you are using to configure and create Regex Validator Fields.


Create Regex Validator Fields

  1. Go to IssuesCustom fields

  2. Click on the Create custom field button located in the top right corner.

  3. Select All and Regex Validator Fields, and click Next.

  4. Add a name and add a description if you want, and click Create.

  5. Associate field your field to the appropriate screens, and click Update.


Configure Regex Validator Fields

  1. Go to IssuesCustom fields

  2. Find your field and click on the three dots located at the far right of your field's row.

  3. Click Context and default value.

  4. Click on the Edit custom field config option located at the bottom of the screen.
